a rambling blast
I’m not saying anything right now, because I have nothing nice to say.
Last Night’s Rap
I’m sad to learn of the passing of a young NBA star.
My ache is not so near, but remote empathy from afar.
You wish you had the life, the dream the skillz.
You ain’t genuine. No, copycat, you are for your thrills.
Sometimes I speak in dialect.
I flow and rhyme and hit it, the inside man — the deep, the introspect.
Sometime I joke and riddle.
Sometime I interrupt, yeah right in the middle.
My inner thought.
The contemplative, deep rhythm is caught.
Don’t challenge me if it’s for your gain.
I keep it real. This is no refrain.
I listen, not just hear.
I smell the emotion waft in fear.
I call it MegaDrivel. That’s my schtick.
You stick around, they’ll take this read and make a flick.
I call it MegaDrivel… Now you know.
middle of the night
While struggling with sleeping, I stopped. I stopped struggling and started writing. It’s one of those nights where I’m really glad I decided something a long time ago, about 22 (UPDATE – DOH!) 32 years ago (when I was six). I don’t get bored. I find something more interesting to do. Tonight, I don’t know if I was bored. I actually think I was subconsciously trying to solve a technical issue related to work. That’s not the best for sleep and looking at a blank white ceiling isn’t either. So, here I am. (That’s two “I before E, except after C” words, with isn’t in between. Oh, but it it *is*. No, it’s not!) I like having a good attitude. Ping #AttitudeMeme! Also, ping #KindaQuotable.
AttitudeMeme
When I think about a topic and decide to write about it, one interesting thing (to me anyway) is seeing in which category it lands. This topic about “attitude” and thoughts about how to change and adjust attitudes is something that I encounter every day – we encounter every day. This is the introduction of the “The Attitude Meme.” It also happens to hit on every one of the categories already here… Autodidactism, Education, Life, Listening, MegaDrivel, Perception, Perspectives, Priorities, and Writing.
Yes, there is a little wordplay going on here. Attitude + Me +Me… I don’t think that works. However, I do think it works to infect positively pass along a good attitude and good ideas. I don’t know anyone that I like to be around who dislikes a good attitude. This is another positive beginning… Welcome to a new category and a new domain, AttitudeMeme.com. (Yes, that’s another wordplay.)
you cannot deny
whether you agree or disagree
you cannot deny
whether you like or dislike
you cannot deny
whether you try or do not try
you cannot deny
whether you love or hate
you cannot deny
whether you lose or gain
you cannot deny
whether you suffer or whether you rejoice
whether you pity or whether you envy
whether you spite or whether you embolden
whether you despise or whether you embrace
YOU CANNOT DENY…
Jesus Christ is sovereign. God knows. And, the Holy Spirit lives.
Be encouraged. YOU are NOT alone.
YOU CANNOT DENY…
God is God and I am not.
Trust God period.

copyright
I’m becoming more interested in “copyright” and what that means today.
My current, unstudied opinion:
People often try to profit off other people’s work. That is nothing new, and in-and-of-itself is not wrong, illegal or immoral. However, if something is taken from someone else, and permission is not granted, then it is stealing and it is wrong, illegal and immoral.
Example:
I leave my car unlocked and all the windows are open and the keys are left in the ignition. Someone else comes by and takes anything from the car or takes the whole car. That is not in-and-of-itself wrong, illegal or immoral. However, if I did not give permission to the person or group or whatever entity that took anything, then it is stealing, wrong, illegal and immoral.
Conclusion:
That sounds pretty simple and pretty basic. It sounds like there is not much room for misinterpretation. It sounds very obvious, like it should be “common sense” and like everyone should know and understand this. However, “common sense is not common.”
How does this apply to “copyright” and what does this mean today?
I’m trying to study up, to make a more informed opinion and to take a stance on this. I don’t have any specific reason to do this, except for maybe one. I think many people are stealing and doing wrong things, with regard to “copyright” and I think people are doing this because they truly believe that they have rights to things that are not theirs and they have strong opinions that things that they do not own are ok to steal.
This, on the surface may look like a witch hunt or being judgmental. That is not the goal of my research. My goal is to seek first to understand, before trying to be understood. So, I am noting my current, unstudied opinion here, to see what happens to it, after I do more research and after I apply due diligence to this topic. Who knows? Maybe this will turn into an interesting and engaging discussion and maybe my opinion will change, along with or in opposition to other people’s opinions that may also change. Maybe current opinions will be strengthened.
How does this apply to art? How does this apply to science? How does this apply to me, or you?
Stay tuned! :)
P.S. I think I nailed what type of thing “MegaDrivel” may be all about here. It appears to have nailed every category that I currently have for this blog, plus I added a new “Autodidactism” category. Hmmm…
sow much fodder
“Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I can hardly sit through ten minutes of television without bursting with more ideas of things to write about… “Common sense” is not common. I don’t claim to know how to fix that. I do claim (write now – pun intended) to know how to write about it and hopefully lead to others’ thinking about it, which can lead to improved thinking and can facilitating positive change. That’s not a slippery slope falacy of argumentation. That’s an approach to contributing to society and impacting people’s lives. That’s something worth spending time on and worthy of valiant effort.
a very quiet morning
After about 6 inches of snow yesterday, I’m up early on a Sunday morning in Minneapolis, MN. It is extremely quiet. The keyboard clicks are almost echoing as I type in the living room. This is why I get up early. This is why I enjoy mornings. This is what I escape to join… a calm, thought provoking, pleasant, peaceful journey…
